This little girl's experience is word for word what my 4 year old son went through when stung by a scorpion hiding among his toys in his bedroom. It all happened so quickly and much of the details of his experience were lost in a blur when I tried to recount it for family and friends.

I had taken my son to Mendy's Place at John C. Lincoln in Phoenix. Thankfully they were also taking part if the clinical trials. I can't imagine having to ride something like this out without Anascorp. Just awful. I was very surprised (and very relieved) to see how quickly the antivenon worked. Thank heaven for it and thank goodness it will be more widely available now. Great article! Southwesterners should read it to be educated (a healthy fear of what can happen to remind everyone to wear shoes indoors and outdoors, and to be ever mindful of these native creatures) and know how significant the FDA's approval on this really is.

I agree with adventure doc. My 6 year old son was stung by a bark scorpion in Las Vegas, Nevada. Within 15 minutes he developed many of the signs that the neuro toxin will cause discussed by adventure doc. I am an optometrist and had noticed the first sign being Nystagumus (uncontrolled eye movements). This led to grade 4 toxicity.

We had taken our son to St Rose Dominican which provided sedatives. They had suggested Anascorp antivenon which only Sunrise Hospital provided. My son was transported to Sunrise of which we obtained the antivenom within 6 hours of the initial event. Within 30 minutes many of the signs were improving and within 90 minutes were completely gone.

I was pretty amazed with the efficacy of Anascorp. Anybody with a scorpion sting should transport to Sunrise Hospital as they are the only local facility to provide this non FDA approved treatment as it is under FDA clinical trials.

A number of equally qualified experts are calling for calm, based on a number of carefully conducted studies. To no one’s surprise, they too are being ignored by the media and government planners.

H1N1 can be forcibly inoculated into pigs, but it has been shown not to spread among the pig population. This means that the danger of a swine-based epidemic is small.

There are several strains of this flu virus however, including H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2 and H2N3. What the science has shown is that when the virus passes through the pig, it becomes less virulent—that is, it is less likely to cause serious disease in people. With each passage, it becomes even weaker.

Since this is not the answer that the politicians and mainstream media wanted, they next announced that it is “possible” that the pigs could be infected with both the bird flu (strain H5N1) and the swine flu (strain H1N1), resulting in a mutant, highly virulent strain that could lead to a pandemic.

Note this is pure speculation and that no scientist has ever performed this trick. It is purely hypothetical—like global warming. CDC virologists claim that in the past they performed a similar virological trick, but they never published their results and thus have kept the data close to the vest.

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my site and leave a comment!

The subject of water bottle safety is indeed a hot topic right now. I know that I have personally stopped using plastic water bottles. The availability of stainless steel bottles has helped ease the transition.

The chemical in question is Bisphenol A. The FDA has not issued warnings about this substance, found in plastics like water bottles, food containers etc. However, several other countries have.

With the increasing popularity of stainless bottles, I have changed over and have asked my family to do the same. I hope this helps and if you find any interesting new research please forward it my way!

Thanks again for reading!
